Dear Frank:

Thank you for helping me have the most wonderful experience with a horse that I have ever had. I don't know how I can possibly " Thank you," enough!

This is a little lengthy but I think you will really appreciate what your information has done for this horse lover.

After reading all your suggested reading and all your Aggressive Horse Problems articles, as well as studying your video a few times again, it occurred to me that the problems we were experiencing with Blaze could be aggression problems. All her wounds have been looking amazingly well, the swelling has been gone for many days and she has been kicking up her heals again lately.

Last night while working your 7 Steps System, when appropriate, I did as you suggested with the shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh noise and a plastic bag, while backing up 10 to 15 steps and allowing her to think about what was going on.

This was the first time I have EVER witnessed such extreme concentration in a horse before in my life.

While trying to stroke her side, Blaze attempted to kick out at me three times and was met with your " BRICK WALL" technique each time with at least 30 seconds to think about it and each time she came back to me for support. She got these lessons in 1 to 3 times and it was over for each lesson and in a matter of maybe 45 total minutes. She learned the REAL meaning of whoa, how to stand very still and quiet, head down, respecting my space, back, she allowed me to touch her anywhere including her wounds, how to go thru a latched gate and close it without dismounting (and with such ease) and she learned that we were only together for a fun relaxing time. (What is weird is that I thought Blaze already knew this stuff but I could not have been more wrong.) We had to come back to our " special Safe Place" maybe six times over the evening and rode until dark. I have to say that the times we came to our special place were all just that, very very special.

She stood perfectly still while I saddled her, lowered her head down and stood still while I bridled her as well as each time I mounted and dismounted. This is a large rural area, south west of the 5 Star Ranch south of Colorado Springs. We went past at least 10 oncoming cars, between two that were stopped visiting, numerous barking dogs, a plastic bag blowing down the road, just to mention a few. We went into a distant neighbors yard where the large dog began nipping at her heels when I got off to walk her close to a little miniature stallion's corral that was going nutso over her (I mean this yard was chaos for me, let alone her). When I said whoa, easy girl, she did just that. She did kick at the dog finally as he deserved, but she was so extremely calm and attentive to my cues/commands. There were times it took a soft shhhhhhhhh to keep her attention. But I could not believe the respect she gave me. I never kicked her to go nor pulled on her mouth to whoa, but we did both, while enjoying her tremendous horse power and endurance.

Needless to say she was a totally different horse and I " Discovered The Horse I Never knew," and it is because of YOU! In my younger years (I'm 47) I have owned and rode horses a lot but never understood nor tried training of this sort.

Thank you so much for sharing this information and your learning experiences. If I can ever help you in anyway, PLEASE feel free to ask.

Respectfully grateful and grinnin' ear to ear,

Terry Stillwell
