Mr. Bell -

I am writing a short story about my experiences (limited as they are) with two of my horses.  Sadly, one had to be put down last summer due to infection in his hoof from foundering.  He fought bravely and we fought non-stop, but in the end, Shiloh lost his battle.

It was after Shiloh was gone that I purchased a big, red TW gelding from my fiancé's sister.  She couldn't handle him, her father-in-law (who is a veteran horseman) couldn't handle him, and they were going to sell him at a horse auction.  The horse was a raving lunatic (and a big one!).  With his size and conformation - over 16 hands and solid muscle - everyone told me that I was stupid and that he would hurt me.  I guess I should tell you that when I purchased Eagle's Current Mark (we call him " Mister T" or just " T" ), I was in my third trimester of a very difficult pregnancy.

I started doing research on horse problems (T was only the third horse I had purchased) and found your web site.  I read everything that I could find from you and went to work with T.  I now have a deep bond with T and can do anything with him, thanks to following your advice.  Even recently, when we finally decided to tackle his trailering problem, I visited your web site.  The previous owners had loaded the horse with a 2x4 across the rump and he was terrified of a horse trailer.  I read " The Lone Ranger Loads Again" and printed it out.  Following what you did in that article, I worked with T and within 2 days he was loading beautifully.

To make a very long story short, because of the information I have found in your books and on your web site, I have taken a horse that even veteran horsemen couldn't control and made a great friend.  In my short story that I am writing, I would like to mention this, but wanted to seek your permission to do so.  I am not sure if the story will ever be published, but just in case it ever is, I wanted to ask.

If you would like, I could send you a copy of the story that I wrote about Shiloh " Death of Innocence" , so that you can get some idea of what type of a writer I am.  I fully intend on trying to get that one published.  My new story, " Birth of a Bond" will be a similar writing style, although with a much happier ending.

If you could let me know your thoughts on my request I would appreciate it.  And if you ever happen to be in Jackson, OH, let me know and I'd be happy to show you what a miracle your advice has done.
